Zanzibar Beach Holiday - Slave Trade
During slavery, Zanzibar played as the main market for
selling and buying human beings as other commodities. It
was the last one to be established in the history of
slave trade and was officially closed in 1873. After the
abolition, some people were still going on with such
trade illegally.
They Used to
transport their goods (slaves) secretly to mangapwani
where there were underground slave caves and chambers
and kept them there before being exported to overseas.
