14 Days, 13 Nights - Selous Game Reserve & Zanzibar

Day 1. Depart TAZARA station, Dar es
Salaam for Kisaki, Selous.Trains depart Tuesday 15.50, Friday 13.50 and the
journey takes about 4 ½ hours passing through
rural villages and Selous Game Reserve.
Overnight at Sable Mountain Lodge (L & D).
Alternatively you can fly to Selous, there are
daily flights depart at 0830hrs and 1430hrs.
Day 2. Early morning foot safaris,
looking for close encounters with all manner of
big game. Afternoon drive into game rich areas
within the reserve. Overnight at Sable Mountain
Lodge (B, L, D)
Day 3. Game drive across the entire
reserve, fascinating changes in terraned
vegetation and wonderful game viewing. Afternoon
boat safari on the river and overnight at Rufiji
River Camp (B, L, D)
Day 4. Explore the banks of the Rufiji
River by foot and by car. Overnight at Rufiji
River Camp (B, L, D).
Day 5. Morning excursion, which can be a
game drive and afternoon a boat safari again.
Overnight at the camp (B, L, D).
Day 6. Fly to Zanzibar Stone Town. B&B at
Dhow Palace Hotel
Day 7). Explore the magical Stone Town of
Zanzibar. Stay Dhow Palace Hotel (B&B).
Day 8). Transfer from Stone Town to your
resort on the beach. (about 45 minutes drive) –
Hotel – 4 nights (BD).
Days 9 – 13). The beautiful coastline
with its palm-fringed beaches create an image of
a forgotten paradise. Most are protected by
coral reefs and are made of white coral sand.
Here you can relax on the balmy, tropical shores
of the Indian Ocean. In the morning it may be
possible to see some of the local fisherman, in
their traditional dhows, bringing in their
catch.
Spend the days relaxing on the beach or
snorkelling in crystal-clear water. There are
bicycles for hire or several optional excursions
can be arranged through your hotel, such as
scuba diving, boat excursions, fishing trips or
a spice tour of the island. You could also opt
to visit the nearby turtle sanctuary where
injured turtles and other marine animals are
cared for until they are well enough to be wild.
Day 14). Transfer from the beach directly
to the airport and fly out – from Zanzibar or
Dar es Salaam.
